*Position Description:* The CalFresh Outreach Intern is charged with
helping potentially eligible clients sign up for CalFresh (formerly known
as Food Stamps) benefits. CalFresh Outreach Interns help provide CalFresh
information to potential recipients at food distributions, health fairs and
other outreach events in Madera County by providing a brief explanation
about the CalFresh program to clients, discuss eligibility requirements,
and dispel common myths about CalFresh. The Calfresh intern will play a
vital role in the research and implementation of a Madera County Task Force
to include recruiting, scheduling and participating in multi-organizational
meetings to expand Calfresh outreach. These functions are designed to
enhance and support the overall mission of Community Food Bank.

*Hours/Days:* 75 or 150 Hours Total, to be arranged (First two weeks will
include 10 hours of training)

*Award Amount:* $750 Scholarship (for 75 hours) or $1,500 Scholarship (for
150 hours), payable upon completion of hours at the end of the semester
through the Community Service Scholarship Program

*Majors:* Food & Nutr Sci, Social Work, Sociology, Public Health, Humanics
or related

*Qualifications:* Required: Reliable transportation to Madera County;
compatible schedule; must be able to pass background check; ability to
stand or sit for extended periods of time in an outdoor environment, basic
computer skills and ability to learn new software program, ability to
maintain client and agency partner confidentiality, ability to effectively
communicate (written and oral) and work well with a variety of stakeholders
from different socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, and ability to adapt
to quickly changing business environment including learning and applying
new training and knowledge. Preferred, but not required: Experience in
social work or human services and demonstrated ability to effectively
perform direct outreach services and Bi-lingual Spanish.

program provides a number of excellent benefits, receipt of a scholarship
is based on eligibility. If you have no Remaining Need, you may not be able
to participate in the program. (To see if you have Remaining Need, log into
your My Fresno State account; go to Student Center; select My Finances;
click on View Financial Aid; select Aid Year at top of list; click on
Financial Aid Summary; and look at Remaining Need amount. This must be at
least $750 or $1500 or higher to earn the scholarship. If not, you might be
