Earlier this semester I had the privilege of meeting Machael Smith, the Executive Director of Kings Tulare Homeless Alliance. As part of our grant writing assignment we needed to meet with her, learn about the organization, and figure out what the program goals were so we could help find funding. Our first meeting was inspiring to say the least. Although I have compassion for people suffering through homelessness, meeting Machael and learning about her mission with KTHA really broadened my understanding. The passion she carries for KTHA’s programs and future goals are infectious. After the meeting I was overwhelmed with desire to help her find funding.
It was an eye-opening experience to learn about an organization who does so much in my little bi-county area to try to combat the issues of those facing housing issues in my area. KTHA and what they are trying to accomplish is nothing short of amazing.
