Monday night’s class was a panel on “Building a Triple A Board,” with Joan Minasian acting as moderator. The panel consisted of representatives from HandsOn Central CA and CASA of Fresno/Madera County. Carol Davies, Executive Director and Scott Uyesaka, Board Chair, represented HandsOn Central CA, while CASA was represented by Executive Director Nathan Lee and Board Member Jeff Dal Cerro.
It was great to be able to hear the first-hand experiences of people who are living what our textbooks are teaching us. One interesting thing that Joan stated during the panel was that incoming board members should take the initiative and interview the organization. Asking about financials and negotiating terms is a necessary and wise step for any potential board member.
Having the chance to interact with and question board members and executive directors with years of experience is a wonderful and unique benefit of being in the Humanics program!
