This was my first time attending the Humanics Retreat and I was really excited about going but I was also nervous at the same time. I didn’t know what to expect but I was going with an open mind and ready to experience something new.
Upon my arrival to Camp El – O – Win, I was received by my other classmates with warm, welcoming smiles. Everyone was very nice and friendly and introduced themselves to me. I was beginning to feel excited about the retreat.
To begin we did a few team building exercises which were really fun. It helped me get out of my comfort zone a little more and I had to communicate with others to get the job done. However, my favorite activity was the Personality Activity we did Saturday night. I enjoyed listening to everyone’s unique stories about themselves. I was so intrigued by everyone’s story, I had almost forgotten that it was all part of a college class. I think that’s what fascinated me most of all, just realizing that I was sitting outside, around a bonfire, the sound of nature around me, the sound of the river flowing behind me, and listening to my classmates introduce themselves one by one.
Nevertheless, it was an unforgettable experience where I made new friends and had a wonderful time.
