My first experience being a Humanics student was more than I imagined. I did not expect to meet so many kind and friendly people. Everyone was so welcoming, and it made my experience that much more enjoyable.

The retreat was a chance to get to bond with our fellow classmates, and get an understanding of the course.

I want to begin by thanking the staff at Camp-El-O-Win. They went above and beyond for us. From the great food, getting seconds, and the chocolate cupcakes, it was all so good. I must say my favorite part was making the eclairs. I have camped for as long as I can remember and I have never had that type of dessert. Very sweet, gooey, and chocolatey.

Our first session was with Sarah from Adventure Risk Challenge, and we did team building exercises. It required a little bit of critical thinking to solve our task successfully. Sarah also did an activity that broke us up into four different types of leadership styles. My leadership style was relationship master. Additionally, Mark Ford held a discussion, and gave us insight on his career at American Airlines.

Thank you, Sarah and Mark!

Dr. Simmons had an activity where we had to bring an object to reflect our personality. I loved hearing everyone’s story, and getting to know my fellow scholars personally.

Thank you to all for making my first time a good one.
