In this last week leading up to the grant award ceremony, pressure was high and we were scrambling up to the very last minute to make sure everything was prepared in excellence. It was definitely an overwhelming process in these last moments, but now that it’s all over I wish I could go back and do it all again! Today was a HUGE SUCCESS and I couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome.
Liz Garvin did an amazing job at hosting our event, our Humanics Scholars presented their grants and recapped the semester beautifully, and the Humanics Students4Giving grant recipients reminded us yet again of why we decided RIGHT this semester. Congratulations again to Art of Life Cancer Foundation, Poverello House, and Focus Forward for being our 2017 grantees. I believe that you will all steward these grants well, ensuring that the impact will be evident in our community for generations to come.
I’ve been on the verge of tears all day, reflecting on how blessed I am to have found the Sociology and Humanics programs at Fresno State. As I shared in my closing statement today, I have never felt such a deep level of fulfillment, academically or personally, until now. I know that this is where I’m supposed to be, and I’m excited about what the future holds for myself and this beautiful Humanics family I have gained. Thank you again to my amazing team (Staff and Board Development): Korio, Evelyn, Nicandro, Patti, Daniel, Nick, Christian, and Peter! You all have made this process 100x more enjoyable. And thank you Dr. Jendian and Dr. Simmons for lovingly and effectively leading us into leadership!
I’m proud to be a philanthropist!
