During the semester we had many guest lecturers who taught us many different things about philanthropy and ways to fundraise. One of the fundraising strategies that stood out to me was when Liz Garvin talked about planned giving. This strategy intrigued me because I feel that many assisted living care facilities should utilize this strategy, so they could benefit by being able to be gifted over time. This is more of a negotiation that can be developed by a contract. What I enjoyed about her lecture was how passionate she was about her job. Her stories really got me thinking about the impact planned giving can have on an organization over time. The other thing that I enjoyed about her talk was that she was enthusiastic and didn’t have to use notes for her presentation. She was truly inspirational and helped me find another pathway I can go in in my career.
