The weather was perfect as my Humanics class gathered at the River Center in the late afternoon.  This was my first time taking an official tour of the River Center and I was very impressed.  The River Center is working hard to inspire and educate the public in order to preserve and restore the environment along the San Joaquin River.  Judging by all of the wildlife I saw on the grounds, I think they must be doing something right.  There was everything from deer to owls (not to mention the rabbits that seemed to be everywhere you turned).

The San Joaquin River Parkway and Conservation Trust is working to keep the river accessible to the community, and is doing a great job of encouraging its recreational use.  I am so thankful that we have a local community benefit organization dedicated to the health of one of our most important resources. I look forward to seeing where their mission takes them in the years to come.
