Trans-e-Motion is hosting these events:
1) Trans-e-Motion Fresno is hosting the 11th annual Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) on Sunday, November 20th. The event begins at 5:30pm and ends at 8pm. The 2016 TDOR will be held at the First Congregation Church of Fresno (Big Red Church) at 2131 N. Van Ness Blvd. Fresno, CA.
The focus of the event is a memorial honoring our transgender family who have been lost over the past year due to hate crimes or suicide. They will be honored through performance, poetry, spoken word, an art display, and inspirational speakers. A memorial will be held to read the names of those we have lost over the last year. Come join our observance and celebration.
It’s important to increase our awareness about the level of violence the transgender community experiences and the shocking rate of more than 40% of all transgender individuals who have attempted suicide. There have been at least 96 reported murders of transgender people in 2016 thus far. Join us in honor of those whose lives were lost, so that those who are left behind can live their lives in dignity as their authentic selves.
2) TONIGHT – Friday, November 18th at 7pm: Trans-E-Motion Fresno will be holding a rally, vigil, and sidewalk march for transgender rights and awareness in the Tower District, starting at the Fresno LGBT Community Center at 1067 N Fulton Fresno, CA 93728. Now is the time to advocate for the transgender community. With high rates of suicide in youth and adults, community support must be visible. Attached is the event flyer.
Attached are the event flyers. Please invite your family members and friends. F eel free to forward this e-mail to interested community members. Thank you for your time and hope to see you there!
